Wells Fargo is refusing to reimburse a 72-year old man who fell for an elaborate scam that has affected bank accounts across the nation.
ABC 7 News reported that Tracy Jeffords, after her trip to San Francisco, received a message allegedly from FasTrak.
The Lake County resident, California, entered the debit card information after he was convinced that the message was real.
A day later Jeffords got a letter from FasTrak stating that he was owed money by the platform for toll fee payments. Jeffords then checked his account and found that more than $3,000 was missing. This was after an eBay purchase was made with his debit card details.
ABC 7 News quotes Jeffords as saying.
It made me feel awful. It’s not just you.
Wells Fargo, a trillion-dollar bank in Lake County, has refused to refund the Lake County resident. The Lake County resident’s attempt to dispute this charge at eBay also failed.
ABC 7 News consulted an expert who said that getting reimbursed by a debit card for fraudulent purchases was harder than with a credit card. Jeffords, however, has vowed that he will fight to recover his money.
ABC 7 News reports that he has told them.
You know, I don’t work.” It’s true, I do not work .”
