A JPMorgan Chase employee is facing accusations of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the bank’s customers while working as an associate banker at the trillion-dollar lender.

According to the U.S. Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Shaira Ahmed embezzled $73,200 from the accounts of JPMorgan Chase customers while serving in her capacity as an associate banker at America’s largest bank’s Richmond Hill branch in New York.

“By reason of the foregoing conduct, Respondent [Ahmed] engaged in violations of law, which resulted in financial gain to Respondent and loss or risk of loss to the Bank. Respondent’s misconduct demonstrated personal dishonesty.”

The OCC says Ahmed embezzled the funds over a roughly two-month period between January 15th of 2025 and March 22nd of 2025.

According to the OCC, Ahmed altered JPMorgan Chase’s records over the same period to hide the theft. Ahmed was JPMorgan Chase’s associate banker at its Richmond Hill branch between July 8th of 2024 and May 2nd of 2025.

Following the findings, the OCC is now banning Ahmed from participating either directly or indirectly in any manner in the conduct of the affairs of US banks and financial institutions indefinitely.

The former JPMorgan Chase associate banker has consented to the OCC’s prohibition order without admitting or denying any wrongdoing.
