Tinder, the digital dating app giant, has settled a lawsuit that accused it of age discrimination.
Tinder has agreed to pay $60.5m to resolve allegations it charged older Californian users higher prices.
In a class-action lawsuit filed in California on May 15, 2015, Tinder was accused of violating California laws by charging older users higher prices.
Tinder users who have been affected by the lawsuits, attorneys fees and administrative costs will receive around $39.72 millions after subtracting these expenses. This is over an approximate four-year period.
Divide the net settlement approved by the court by the total number of claimants. This figure is also determined by how much each person paid for Tinder Gold and Tinder Plus.
The settlement administrator must be informed by the class members of the preferred method for payment no later than August 18.
Final approval will take place on 20th May.
The court did not decide the case in Tinder’s favor or that of the plaintiffs, despite the agreement to settle.
