Human Trader ProMint Claims Championship As AI Demonstrates Better Risk Control
Aster, a high-performance, privacy-conscious on-chain trading system backed by YZi Labs has released the results of the “Human vs. AI” live trading contest. The event, which took place over a period of two weeks in highly volatile markets conditions, highlighted the contrast between human discretionary trading and AI strategies.
The human trading team, as a group, recorded a ROI of -32.22%. This reflects significant dispersion in performance across the participants. AI agents, on the other hand, delivered more consistent results, with total losses limited to USD 13,000, and an ROI of -4.48 % across all AI strategies.
Trading Insights: Stability or Asymmetric Opportunities
Data from the competition showed a distinct difference in risk behaviors between humans and AI agents. In the course of the event, only 43% (or 43%) of the human traders were liquidated. All 30 AI agents, however, completed the competition with no liquidations, and achieved a survival rate 100%.
Aster says that the findings highlight the strengths of AI strategies when they are implemented in risk-controlled, stable markets, and where disciplined risk management is used to mitigate big losses. The findings suggest, however, that even in conditions characterized by rapid price changes, nonlinear market dynamics and human emotions, human discretionary traders who possess strong narrative awareness and judgment can outperform strictly systematic strategies.
The Future of Competitiveness is Collaboration and Not Replacement
Data from the competition showed that traders’ performance was more dispersed, as individual gains exceeded USD 19,000. Losses in some cases were also close to USD 18,000. This resulted in a higher return volatility.
Aster stressed that “Human Vs AI” was not intended to replace humans, but rather to define the roles of both. AI has become a fundamental tool in risk management and execution, while humans are increasingly contributing to market complexity through their judgment, contextual awareness and narrative interpretation. Aster is convinced that future competition will come from collaboration, not direct conflict, between humans and artificial intelligence.
Aster – Using Real World Markets as Testing Grounds
Aster said that Aster’s initial objective in hosting the live trading showdown, was to see how trading participants would behave under actual market conditions on the same infrastructure decentralized. This is rather than using backtesting and simulated data.
Aster, as the decentralized derivatives markets continue to grow, will explore new infrastructure designs to better meet professional trading requirements, including enabling strategies and risk management.
Leonard, the CEO of Aster said in a post-event report that this was not an event with a fixed conclusion but rather a point to start from. As markets grow more complex, traders require more than just individual tools. The market is evolving and traders need systems that are integrated. .”
Next Trading Showdown begins on January 22
Aster confirmed the launch of the Aster Chain testnet on 22 January, which will host the live trading competition.
The upcoming Aster testnet event is open to all traders from the Aster network, not just professional ones.
Aster has published a competition announcement that contains additional details about the competition, including its mechanics, prizes, and criteria for participation.
