One teller admitted that she stole more than $15,000. She called the police in order to hide her theft.

Nicole Hilstolsky, 48, pleaded to a single count of theft committed by an employee of a credit-union after she stole $16,247 out of the cash register of the now defunct W.O.D. Federal Credit Union in 2018.

According to court records, Hilstolsky reported that two men armed with guns had stolen the loan and the cameras from the lender.

She hid her money in the credit union for a few days, but then she decided to take it out.

According to WNEP-TV (affiliated with ABC), Assistant US Attorney James M. Buchanan has made the following statement.

“None” of this happened. She ripped the camera out of the wall, emptied the cash from the credit union, then hid the items, all while lying to police and FBI. Her lies caused the FBI and police to spend time looking for dangerous criminals who didn’t exist .”

The prosecution claims that Hilstolsky paid off her debts with the money.

Hilstolsky confessed to her crime when, in 2025, she was found embezzling 950 dollars from the U.F.C.W. Credit Union. Credit Union Wyoming.

The sentence is eight months in prison followed by two years of supervision.
