Harvard University has announced that it will offer free undergraduate tuition to students from families with incomes of $200,000 or less.

The expansion of financial aid, which will take place in the 2025-2026 academic year, is designed to make the prestigious Ivy League more affordable than ever.

Harvard will pay for housing, food, insurance, and travel costs for families earning less than $100,000 annually.

These students will receive a $2,000 grant to help them get started in their freshman year, and another $2,000 grant for their junior year. This is meant to help them transition from college into the workforce.

According to Harvard College, this expansion of financial aid will allow approximately 86% US families to qualify to receive assistance at Harvard College.

Students with incomes up to $200,000.00 will not only receive tuition assistance, but also additional aid towards other expenses.

Since 2004, when the Harvard Financial Aid Initiative was launched, the university has expanded its financial aid programs. The latest increase marks its fourth revision.

Currently, over half of Harvard’s undergraduates receive financial assistance, and their families pay an average of $16,700 for the 2023-24 school year.

Harvard’s move follows similar moves made by other top-tier institutions.

The University of Texas System has recently expanded its free-tuition program to include families earning $100,000 or below, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology eliminated tuition costs for families earning under $200,000.

Harvard’s new initiative is a major step in making elite higher education accessible to families with lower incomes and middle class.

This post Harvard free tuition for families earning up $200,000 may be updated as new information becomes available.
