Joe Lonsdale, Palantir’s co-founder and well-known defense investor, spoke out on the escalating tensions in an interview with CNBC on Friday.
Lonsdale argues that the pursuit by Iran of nuclear weapons requires US intervention, regardless of past experience or political hesitation.
Lonsdale did not speculate on the intentions of the United States, but referred to recent President Trump remarks indicating that a military operation in Iran could be launched within two weeks.
He did, however, emphasize the seriousness of the threat. “If they chant Death to America, murder American soldiers and then attempt to build a nuclear weapon, it should be made clear that you can’t allow them to have one.”
Palantir co-founder dismisses the notion that all of Iran’s 92 million citizens support the regime. Instead, the founder points to Iran’s long history and the people’s alignment with Western ideals.
Lonsdale said this morning that “the Personal people and the Kurds are intelligent, modern communities who suffered under theocratic rule.” He added, “Iran would be prosperous if it wasn’t run by crazy individuals”.
Palantir founder urges military actions against Iran
Joe Lonsdale, in an interview with CNBC on Friday, expressed his confidence in America’s bunker-buster weapons.
He said: “I was told that they worked – they should be able do this – you could always strike things more than once to make sure.”
Lonsdale supported the idea of preemptive strikes to eliminate nuclear infrastructure, but clarified that while he respected the stated goal of the administration of stopping nuclear proliferation without necessarily pursuing regime changes.
Palantir co-founder, however, acknowledged that the fall of Iran’s government could lead to long-term peace and stability in this region.
If you take out these mullahs then an entire terror network – Hamas Hezbollah and Houthis, all of which are funded by the regime – is removed. He said that the Abraham Accords would flourish and make peace more feasible.
Lonsdale criticizes the ‘woke-right’ view of Iran
Joe Lonsdale did not hold back in criticizing past Democratic governments as well as certain factions of the Republican government.
He accused President Obama of playing a balance of power politics which allowed radicals thrive.
He also criticized elements of the so-called “new woke left” (including figures such as Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson) for their opposition to action against Iran because they were war-weary.
It’s not childish to be against the deployment of more troops in Iraq, but it is rather stubborn and childish that people are so upset about Iraq they don’t understand this.
Palantir’s co-founder has also pointed out misinformation campaigns. He claims that many voices on the internet calling for anti-intervention are actually fake accounts belonging to Islamist networks posing as conservatives.
The rising geopolitical conflicts, especially in the Middle East are helping PLTR share prices remain at record highs of around $140.
