Wells Fargo refused to accept, return or reject a check valued at thousands of dollars for a client who had waited several weeks to hear back.
Marylinn Loveless, a Southern California resident, says that she deposited a check for $10,000 into a Wells Fargo ATM. However, the machine did not print a receipt.

It was strange that I received no receipt. “I thought I would just come in tomorrow .'”
Loveless says that when she visited the Wells Fargo branch on the following day, an employee informed her that the deposit had been placed on hold and was under investigation.
They said no. I asked, “Where is it?’ But they wouldn’t tell me.” “No. They said to me, “Where is it?” But they wouldn’t say .”
Loveless said she got the check when her aunt died, and that it was part of their family legacy.
She sought help from WRAL 5 after weeks of not hearing anything and her money being on hold.
A news outlet contacted the bank and asked about Loveless’s case. Wells Fargo said the issue had escalated.
Loveless received her funds a month later, after making the deposit. Loveless has never been told why her check was held by the lender.
