The Tron Blockchain has been frozen with USDT stablecoins worth more than $182,000,000 due to suspected fraud activity.
Blockchain trackers shared a series on X of Whale Alert alerts that reported multiple Tron addresses with large USDT holdings, amounting to approximately $182,000,000, were frozen.
The biggest single address had more than 50 millions USDT at its disposal, which was worth approximately $49.9million at the time the freezing took place.
One address held approximately 46,1 million USDT; another had nearly 45,1 million USDT; one contained about 29,1 million USDT and the smaller address, roughly 12,1 million USDT. The five addresses together held about $182.2 millions in USDT.
Tether, which issuing the USDT stablecoin used its power to freeze the assets on the contract-level. According to data on the Tron Blockchain, these funds are believed to have been linked to fraud-related activities.
Tether previously stated that it worked with the law enforcement agencies and blockchain analysts to freeze assets related to illegal activity when needed.
These interventions are becoming more frequent in recent years as stablecoin and crypto regulators have increased their scrutiny on blockchain fraud and financial crimes.
