JPMorgan Chase says that thousands of dollars have been withdrawn from a customer’s account using a debit card she did not know about.
Andrea Kaiser, a Dr. at the University of California San Diego says she received a debit-card via overnight delivery. NBC New York reports that shortly after the card had been placed in Kaiser’s mailbox, surveillance footage showed a ‘random person arriving at her door and taking the debit card.
Kaiser claims that within days, she made multiple unauthorised withdrawals ranging in amount from $3350 to $6100.
She notified JPMorgan Chase, and filed a police complaint.
It was likely, in total, about $40,000 removed. Everyone I talked to told me, “Don’t worry. We will fix it.” We will repair it .'”.
Kaiser has not been reimbursed for the $1.4 trillion loan by JPMorgan Chase, even after two months of notifying law enforcement and JPMorgan Chase.
She then turned to NBC New York, and they immediately raised this issue with JPMorgan Chase.
We asked Chase to investigate Andrea’s situation and the problem was soon solved. “A spokesperson told us that they were happy to reconnect Kaiser’s funds.”
Kaiser also received a letter from the bank stating that she had been reimbursed. This letter doesn’t explain what happened to her money, or how she was reimbursed.
