A former Bank of America employee in Nashville is accused of stealing more than $139,000 from two elderly customers.
Karl Stephen Richardson, 39, faces 10 felony counts after a Metropolitan Nashville Police Fraud Unit probe that began with a Bank of America complaint, says the department.
Police say Richardson processed unauthorized counter withdrawals, ATM transactions, debit charges and Zelle transfers at the bank’s Harding Pike branch.
One customer, now 75, lost $68,400. Another, now 86, lost nearly $70,932 from April of 2022 through April of 2026.
He left Bank of America in November of 2025. Police say $4,500 of the older customer’s losses came after he was gone, between January 1st and April 13th.
He was arrested June 23rd while working at a Simmons Bank branch in Bellevue. Bond was set at $370,000.
Police say he built a personal relationship with the customers. He is accused of opening an account for one of them at his new branch before her son closed it.
The charges include two counts each of financial exploitation of an elderly adult, computer fraud, felony theft, identity theft and credit card fraud.
