Japan’s Crypto Revolution Could Propel XRP Toward Global Settlement Leadership

Japan is rapidly strengthening its position as a global leader in digital assets, prompting market analyst Stellar Rippler to argue that the country could be the catalyst that elevates XRP into a dominant role in cross-border payments.

More notably, the central message, “The Reset Starts From The East,” suggests that Asia, rather than the U.S. or Europe, may spearhead the next wave of financial innovation as blockchain technology becomes more deeply integrated into traditional finance.

This narrative gained momentum when Japan’s Finance Minister appeared at XRP Tokyo. Although the appearance was not an official endorsement of XRP, it reinforced the perception that Japan is actively supporting regulated digital asset innovation while modernizing its financial infrastructure.

Japan has further strengthened this reputation by approving a crypto-related bill aimed at enhancing its regulatory framework for digital assets. The legislation is expected to provide greater legal certainty for stablecoins, crypto service providers, and blockchain-based financial services, cementing Japan’s status as one of the world’s most crypto-friendly jurisdictions.

Japan’s Banking Power and Regulatory Shift Strengthen XRP’s Global Settlement Case

According to Stellar Rippler, XRP is uniquely positioned to benefit because of Ripple’s long-established presence in Japan.

Through SBI Ripple Asia, Ripple has spent years partnering with Japanese banks and payment providers to improve cross-border settlements using XRP Ledger technology. Unlike many blockchain projects still pursuing institutional adoption, Ripple already has a significant foothold within Japan’s financial sector.

Japan’s accelerating push toward tokenized assets, including digital bonds and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), could further expand XRP’s utility.

As financial institutions increasingly adopt blockchain-based settlement, XRP Ledger’s liquidity capabilities may play a growing role in bridging tokenized assets with traditional financial markets.

Confidence in XRP’s long-term potential has also been echoed by SBI Holdings Chairman and CEO Yoshitaka Kitao, one of Ripple’s strongest supporters, who has repeatedly expressed the view that broader institutional adoption could substantially increase XRP’s value over time.

The analyst also highlighted Ripple CTO David Schwartz’s remark, “Kyoto, liquidity without borders,” interpreting it as a reflection of Ripple’s broader vision for frictionless global value transfers powered by blockchain technology.

Adding to the bullish outlook, Japan has continued refining its regulatory approach to digital assets, with XRP benefiting from increasing legal clarity under the country’s evolving framework.

Combined with deep institutional participation, mature banking partnerships, expanding blockchain infrastructure, and one of the world’s most active XRP markets, Japan has become a cornerstone of Ripple’s global strategy.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Well, it remains to be seen whether Japan’s regulatory progress, financial-sector integration, and commitment to blockchain innovation will  trigger XRP as the global settlement standard, given that it remains one of the strongest real-world markets supporting Ripple’s vision of faster, more efficient, and borderless global payments.
