Status is one of Ethereum’s oldest open-source projects. It has returned to the limelight with USS Status. A satirical sci fi cartoon, it turns the chaotic crypto past into comedy. Also, the L2 gasless network and a super privacy app have been launched.
A Giant Old Wakes Up
Status is an open-source privacy app that has announced a revamped, unified application, an L2 gas-free network and an identity personified by a satirical and irreverent web cartoon.
Status is one of the most established projects within the Ethereum ecosystem. It has survived the volatility in the market while quietly building an open-source application that integrates a crypto wallet with privacy messaging, a web browser, and a privacy messenger.
Status was founded in 2017 and has survived ICO manias, regulatory whiplashs, collapses of centralised exchanges, memecoin cycles, as well as repeated attempts to rebuild internet using better primitives.
They’re now back, with the mission of making privacy available to all.
Is this Crypto’s First Cartoon Series
The project has launched USS Status, an animated webseries that features a group of meme misfits who navigate a galaxy plagued with surveillance, centralisation and bad governance.
This satirical sci fi series makes fun of the colorful history of crypto, with allusions made to tokens and projects familiar to viewers who are crypto natives.
USS Status maintains, however, that the appearance of an infamous Crypto figure in Episode 1 is purely coincidental.

The platform behind the punchline
Status Privacy Super-App, which is available now, uses the same technology as the USS Status fiction spaceship.
Status lets users chat, browse, make transactions, all from one app. They’ve also just released a new, unified mobile and desktop application.
The team is not the only one building super-apps, but they are focused on providing unmatched privacy by using Logos peer-to-peer message technology (prev. Whisper and smart decentralised contracts.
This app has anonymous profiles, an integrated multi-chain wallet, encrypted end-to-end messaging, Community spaces that are resistant to censorship, and privacy-preserving browser.
