After their information fell into the wrong hands, a US bank agreed to pay out hundreds of thousands to its customers.
First Chatham Bank of Savannah, Georgia, according to the portal for the settlement administrator, has agreed to pay $475,000. This is to settle a lawsuit brought by a group following a breach in data that occurred back in September 2024.
An unauthorized person accessed First Chatham Bank’s computer system and retrieved confidential files containing sensitive customer data.
Each victim’s share of compensation will be determined on a per-victim basis.
The final amount could vary depending on how many victims come forward.
First Chatham Bank’s named plaintiffs will receive an award for their service.
The deadline for submitting compensation claims is June 3. The final hearing for approval will take place on June 18.
First Chatham Bank, despite agreeing to a settlement, denies all wrongdoing. The defendant and plaintiffs have not been ruled in either direction by a court.
