Shares of Thor Industries gained Wednesday after the recreational-vehicle (RV) maker reported stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter results, even as the company issued a cautious outlook for the year ahead.

Stocks rose by 5.8%, to $108.18, marking the biggest percentage increase in one day for a whole month.

Thor’s shares have risen by 14% in 2025, including the move of this session.

Earnings beat expectations

Thor’s fiscal fourth quarter, which ended on July 31st, saw adjusted earnings exceeding $1.28 per share. FactSet surveyed analysts and they had predicted $2.36.

This result marked an increase of 40.5% from year to year.

The net sales of $2.52 billion were essentially the same as $2.53 billion in the previous year, but far above Wall Street’s estimated $2.32 billion.

LSEG data showed that 4 of 17 brokers currently give Thor stock a rating of “buy”, while another 11 rate it as “hold” and 2 “sell” with a price target median of $93.

The performance of the business sectors was inconsistent.

North American sales of towable RVs fell by 4.6% while motorized RVs increased 7.8%.

Thor is the owner of well-known RV brands like Heartland RV and Airstream.

Market pressures and cautious guidance

Thor, in spite of the positive earnings, maintained a cautious outlook for the fiscal year 2026, citing the uncertainty surrounding the economy.

Seth Woolf is Thor’s director of investor relations and corporate development. He said: “Multiple data points suggest that the job market has weakened. We think it prudent to prepare for another difficult year.”

According to the company, it expects full-year profits in the $3.75 – $4.25 range per share. The top of this range is in line with analyst consensus at $4.25.

The revenue is expected to be between $9 and $9.5 billion. This estimate falls below FactSet’s $9.63 billion.

Thor cited affordability as a major challenge in the RV market, especially since RVs are typically large purchases that require financing.

The company stated that it was “continuing to be cautious” about the impact of the macroeconomic environment on consumer spending, and especially on big-ticket purchases such as RVs.

Thor said that any upside for fiscal 2026 is likely to be due more to company-specific efforts than an enabling retail environment.

Reactions across the market and industries

This positive earnings report has given a boost to the peers of recreational products.

Winnebago’s shares rose 2.9% while Malibu Boats, Brunswick and other boat manufacturers also gained.

On Wednesday, the S&P 500 Index was in red.

James Hardiman, Citi Research’s analyst on powersports and recreation vehicles, recently highlighted that affordability is a key factor in determining demand trends.

In recent years, the cost of financing has increased as more buyers are taking out loans to make such purchases.

Thor’s strong earnings quarter helped to offset investors concerns over the company’s weaker guidance.

Stocks of the company, still above the median analyst price target, continue to show a resilient performance despite challenging consumer conditions, and cautious expectations of the coming year.
