As a result of the expansion of a guaranteed income program, millions will be given to West Coast households.
The Outlook reports that The Bridge Project, a nonprofit organization which provides supplementary income for low-income families, has expanded its program of guaranteed incomes to Multnomah county, Oregon.
Multnomah county is the most populous in Oregon, having about 815, 000 residents.
Guaranteed income program is designed to help reduce poverty in the first 1000 days of life. It will give $2.025million to 100 mothers spread over a period of three years.
The Multnomah County Guaranteed Income Program pays participants in three stages. Participants will each receive an initial cash payment of 1,125 dollars during prenatal stages, and $750 per monthly for 15 months.
Participants will be paid $375 each month in the 21-month final phase, totaling $20,250 per participant.
In order to be eligible for the Guaranteed Income Program, you must satisfy certain requirements including your age and income.
All applicants must:
– Live in Multnomah County, Oregon. At least 18 years old. Priority is given to mothers who are 20-27 weeks pregnant. “Make less than $39,000 per year.”
The application process is currently underway. Payments will begin on 1st March.
