Ripple’s U.S.-dollar stablecoin, RLUSD is getting closer to a landmark after new minting activity on XRP Ledger pushed up its circulating supply. Ripple’s Stablecoin tracker data shows that 28,2 million RLUSD were minted on Monday at the RLUSD Treasury, followed by a further 59 million RLUSD issuance. Together, the two transactions increased new supply by 87.2 million USD.
The circulating supply of RLUSD is now at about $1.40 Billion, putting it within striking distance to the $1.5 Billion mark.
RLUSD was designed primarily for institutional purposes, not retail trading or short term yield strategies. Standard Custody is a limited-purpose company that is chartered by the New York Department of Financial Services and supervised by them. This framework requires that RLUSD be backed by 100% U.S. Dollars and highly liquid cash-equivalents, with reserves kept in segregated account.
Transparency and Reserve Oversight
Ripple publishes a monthly reserve report for RLUSD prepared by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the United States. These reports confirm the amount RLUSD in circulation, and detail the reserve fund. The attestations are in accordance with the standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and NYDFS guidance released in 2022.
The RLUSD reserve funds exceeded the circulating stock as of January 22, 2026. This confirms the stablecoin’s status as fully backed. Each month, new reports are released 30 days after the end of the month.
How RLUSD Growth Compares
Binance’s recent research shows that RLUSD has grown differently than other stablecoins. Binance’s 2025 stablecoins report stated that RLUSD is one of six stablecoins that have crossed a $1 billion market capitalization during the year.
The report found that consumer stablecoins like PYUSD and USD1 exhibited uneven growth, which was often driven by short term incentives such as high-yield DeFi or promotional interest rates. In contrast, institutional-focused stablecoins, including RLUSD, followed a smoother and more consistent upward path.
The supply continues to grow at a measured rate, and now the focus is on whether RLUSD can reach the $1.5 billion mark soon.
