The US Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Practice has settled a class-action lawsuit for millions of dollars over a breach in security that occurred back in February 2024.
This incident exposed sensitive data of Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery patients, including names, birth dates, medical and health information, Social Security Numbers, account numbers, drivers’ licenses, passports, Social Security number, insurance information.
In the consolidated suit, it is alleged that Vancouver-based Healthcare firm did not implement appropriate and reasonable cybersecurity measures. Rebound has denied any wrongdoing, but the parties have settled.
Rebound has agreed to create a fund of $2.5 million that will be used for the cost of the settlement, as well as cash payments and other benefits.
All Settlement Class members are entitled to two years of CyEx’s Medical Shield. The comprehensive service includes $1,000,000 of identity theft and medical insurance, as well as real-time alerts.
Two options are available for the settlement. The settlement offers two options for cash payments.
If you cannot prove your claim or provide an explanation, then you can choose to receive a cash payment up to $75. This amount may vary depending on how many people file the claim.
You have until May 28th to submit your claim.
