  • OpenAI’s prototype suggests a shift towards AI social experiences that are geared toward consumers.

  • Altman’s new platform, which uses real-time data from users to train AI, could rival X.

  • The rivalry between Altman and Musk intensifies as the AI, social media and crypto worlds merge.

The ongoing tech war between OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and X’s Elon Musk looks set to enter a new stage: social media. OpenAI is testing a prototype that will challenge Musk’s X, formerly Twitter. This is a direct challenge to Musk and a major escalation in their rivalry.

Altman vs. Musk – A Growing Rift

In recent months, tensions between Sam Altman & Elon Musk have intensified, adding intrigue to OpenAI rumored goals. Musk, who helped co-found OpenAI back in 2015, distanced himself later from the organization.

Early 2024, tensions reached a boiling point with Musk’s failed $97.4-billion takeover attempt. Subsequent lawsuits were filed to debate OpenAI’s commercial direction under Altman versus its non-profit mission. This fight will now be fought on the consumer market, as a direct X rival is launched.

What Would OpenAI’s Social App Look Like

Details are scarce, but the prototype appears to be centered on a feed that showcases AI-generated images. This plays to OpenAI’s strengths in multimodal AI such as DALL-E.

The prototype has a feed-driven user interface that is centered around AI-generated images. This is in line with OpenAI’s increased focus on multimodal models. The company has not yet confirmed if this experimental product will be an app that is separate from ChatGPT or if it will be integrated into the platform.

Insiders claim that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is already gathering feedback from the outside world on this concept. This early exploration shows a serious interest in redefining the way users interact with generative artificial intelligence in a social context.

This move goes beyond direct competition to address a strategic front in AI: data. Musk’s X Platform benefits from massive real-time data streams that are crucial for training AI algorithms. Meta has a similar advantage. OpenAI will need its own reliable data source as the access to external data is likely to become more restricted.

A successful social platform can provide valuable data on user behavior, content trends and other factors that are essential to keep AI models like ChatGPT up-to-date and sharp. This data battle is now at the heart of Altman vs. Musk’s power struggle.

Markets continue to react to AI development. Worldcoin (WLD), an Altman-linked project, trades for $0.7346 and has a daily volume of over $87,000,000.

Dogecoin (DOGE), which is often influenced by Musk, is currently trading at $0.1564. Both reflect the volatile and interconnected worlds of crypto, AI, digital media, and digital media.
