  • NYSE and Blockchain.com signed an MOU covering tokenized US stocks and ETFs.
  • NYSE’s proposed digital venue will support tokenized securities under regulated infrastructure.
  • The partnership aims to combine traditional market data with crypto trading interfaces.

The New York Stock Exchange and Blockchain.com are working on a route that could place tokenized US stocks inside a crypto platform used by more than 44 million confirmed accounts.

The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on September 23. Under the plan, Blockchain.com users would gain access to tokenized US exchange-listed equities and ETFs through NYSE’s planned digital trading venue. The arrangement remains subject to required regulatory approvals. The deal brings traditional securities closer to the interface crypto users already use for digital assets.

Will Crypto Users Really Buy US Stocks Through an App?

The agreement outlines a distribution plan connecting Blockchain.com’s customer base with NYSE’s planned digital alternative trading system, or ATS.

Blockchain.com says it has supported more than 95 million wallets and has over 44 million confirmed accounts. The company operates across more than 70 jurisdictions.

NYSE President Lynn Martin said Blockchain.com’s international reach would complement the exchange group’s tokenized securities platform when it launches. The plan also includes bringing NYSE and ICE market data into Blockchain.com’s application.

That would allow users to see traditional stock-market information alongside crypto data within the same broader platform.

NYSE’s digital venue is designed for tokenized equities and aims to support continuous trading against stablecoins. ICE officials have described it as a 24/7 marketplace combining NYSE trading technology with blockchain settlement.

The announcement does not identify which individual stocks will be available when the NYSE connection launches.

Blockchain.com already offers a separate tokenized-stock product through Ondo Global Markets. Its support documentation says those tokens include exposure to assets such as Apple and Tesla and are backed by corresponding securities held with custodians. That existing product is separate from the new NYSE agreement.

Regulatory Approval Still Determines the Rollout

The NYSE and Blockchain.com announcement repeatedly states that access depends on required regulatory approvals.

NYSE has spent 2026 building the regulatory framework for tokenized securities. In April, it filed rule changes with the Securities and Exchange Commission covering trading and settlement of securities in tokenized form under a DTC pilot program.

The planned digital venue would also operate within regulated market infrastructure rather than functioning as an unrestricted crypto market.

That distinction matters for investor protection. Tokenizing a security changes how ownership or settlement is represented, but it does not remove securities-law requirements for eligible products and market access.

24/7 Trading Could Narrow the Stock and Crypto Divide

NYSE’s digital platform is being built around 24/7 trading and blockchain-based settlement. The collaboration aims to give crypto users access to US-listed equities and ETFs within familiar platforms, while also expanding institutional access to crypto market data through ICE.

For now, the agreement outlines a potential connection rather than a live trading service. Its rollout will depend on regulatory approval and the launch of NYSE’s digital trading venue.
