The creator of Kishu Inu has been charged in federal court in Chicago on allegations that he misled cryptocurrency investors while secretly selling tokens allocated to himself and others. Prosecutors allege that Alexander Sisemore, 28, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, earned approximately $9 million in personal profits through the scheme involving the digital asset he launched in 2021.

Sisemore, also known as “Kishu man” and “Kimbo,” faces three counts of wire fraud. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. His arraignment in Chicago has not yet been scheduled.

Indictment Alleges Secret Token Sales and False Statements

According to the indictment returned on Wednesday in the Northern District of Illinois, Sisemore and others secretly allocated themselves a large quantity of Kishu Inu tokens when the asset was created.

The indictment alleges they later made materially false statements to investors to maintain liquidity and increase the token’s market price while selling those holdings. Prosecutors describe the alleged conduct as a “rug pull” fraud scheme.

Kishu Inu eventually reached a market capitalization exceeding $1.6 billion after its launch. The indictment places the alleged personal profits Sisemore received at approximately $9 million.

Many of the alleged misrepresentations appeared on Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit. According to the charges, those claims targeted both existing investors and people considering buying the asset.

FBI Seeks Information From Kishu Inu Investors

As the criminal case proceeds, the FBI’s Chicago Field Office is seeking to identify people who invested in Kishu Inu. The agency has asked investors and anyone with information relevant to the investigation to complete its online investor form. Submissions are voluntary, but responses may assist the federal investigation and help authorities identify potential victims.

Andrew S. Boutros, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Ryan Whalen, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Chicago Field Office, announced the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elie Zenner and Matthew Getter are representing the government in the case.

Charges Remain Allegations Ahead of Trial

The charge is a formal accusation and not evidence of guilt. Sisemore is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial.

To secure a conviction, the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The expected maximum prison term attached to each charge does not confirm what sentence he would receive.

If convicted, the court would sentence Sisemore under federal statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
