US Healthcare Company settles with victims after a cyber-attack exposed personal information of patients.
Norton Healthcare Inc., a Kentucky-based company that has recently filed court documents, reached an agreement regarding a cyber incident in May 2023 which may have exposed the personal information of former and current patients.
Norton Healthcare set aside an amount of $11 million for its settlement fund. It will reimburse $2,500 per person who was affected by this leak.
The parties participated in mediation on October 21st, 2025 …. The case was settled during the mediation. Both parties agreed to settle the case globally, on an all-class basis, for $11,00,000.00 in a fund that would be shared by the entire class.
“The Settlement Fund will pay valid claims of Out-of Pocket Losses, up to a limit per claimant of $2500.00.”
The class-action lawsuit against Norton Healthcare alleges that the company failed to implement adequate security measures and did not notify the victims of the problem in a timely fashion.
The Data Breach was caused by Norton’s failure to take adequate steps to protect the personal health information of Plaintiffs, as well as the members of the proposed class. This included failing to meet industry standards in data security and not properly training employees about cybersecurity protocols.
“Despite Norton discovering the breach of data on or around May 9, 2023 defendants continue to ignore and fail to warn the affected persons including Norton’s former and current patients, as well as employees.”
