Unnamed US vice-president of a bank has confessed to stealing hundreds of thousands dollars from his employer by using confidential customer data.

Timothy Abercrombie is the vice president of InterBank and its loan officer. According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma, Abercrombie used confidential information from InterBank’s customers in order to create fraudulent loans applications.

After the loan was approved, the money was deposited into accounts that he owned, but which had been opened under the names of the clients, without their consent.

InterBank has suffered losses of over $800,000.

Abercrombie was employed by InterBank, Kingfisher in Oklahoma between May 2019 and February 2024. The charges were brought against him a month prior to his guilty plea.

After being sentenced this week, he will serve an additional 18 months of federal prison for bank fraud.

Abercrombie also faces 36 months of supervision. Abercrombie was also ordered to pay restitution of $874,893.39.

InterBank has its headquarters in Oklahoma City and a total asset base of approximately $5 billion.
