According to reports, a Californian resident claims that Chase Bank closed his accounts but kept his money. This threw his life in disarray.
The U.S. Sun reports that Brian Adesman (32), is suing Chase Bank for $185,000 he claims was in his account when it closed “without notice”.
Adesman is a founding attorney of Miller Adesman and a Chase Bank client for over a decade. He had personal as well as business accounts.
They refused to explain why they held my money. There was no warning. No explanation. My credit score plummeted and I was bombarded by debt collectors.
It wasn’t only my business account. Chase closed my client and personal trust accounts without reason. This was not policy enforcement. “It wasn’t policy enforcement.
Adesman says the bank has “devastated” his life. After the financial institution seizes his money, Adesman was forced to move out of his Los Angeles apartment and into a mobile home due to missed mortgage payments.
He is said to have filed complaints with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Attorney General, and the Department of Financial Services against the bank. He’s still battling for his restitution more than a full year after the incident.
Chase Bank spokesperson says:
Chase Bank also cites a lawsuit brought by a New Jersey company that claimed it had been duped to make fraudulent payments. This included $3.7 Million deposited in Adesman’s law firm’s account. Chase Bank did not confirm, however, whether Adesman’s account was frozen as a result of the accusations.
Adesman claims he did not conduct any questionable transactions. He suspects that the bank only flagged him after receiving legal settlement payments from a Mexican customer for legal services. He says that he did not know about the New Jersey case.
The lawyer claims that Chase promised to refund some of the funds he had paid to Chase, to the amount of $175 649, via cashier’s checks within 10 working days. Adesman claims he has never received the check.
