The last quarter in 2024 was a bullish period for digital assets. This was largely due to the victory of Donald Trump, a crypto-friendly candidate in the 2024 US Presidential elections. This event propelled Bitcoin (BTC), to a new record high of $108,000. Virtuals Protocol VIRTUAL was the most successful cryptocurrency over the last 90 days.
CoinMarketCap data shows that Virtuals Protocol grew by 8106% during Q4 2024. The AI and Metaverse Platform gained traction as its AI-driven virtual environment adoption increased.
Fartcoin, a meme coin based in Solana, has recorded a 2191% increase, reaching $1.45. It is now valued at $1.45 billion. This put it ahead of the 939 companies listed in the Russell 3000 Index.

Other notable performers included Pudgy Penguins, which grew by 629% and Hyperliquid, which grew by 627%. The Bitget Token, or BGB, rounded out the list with a 511% increase.
The second half of top 10 altcoins include Hedera (HBAR), Stellar (XLM), XRP and Curve DAO token (CRV), which have respectively gained 457%, 405% 386% 356% and 277%.
Altcoin Market: Gains in 90 Days and Key Trends
The weekly chart below, provided by TradingView, shows that the altcoin rallies are gradually picking up speed again. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), which is a measure of relative strength, is at 64.90. This means that there is still a high level of buying pressure and that the chances of resuming the uptrend is high. The gradient of the line suggests that the trend will continue to be upwards in the near future.
The MACD indicator is still bullish, with the MACD line remaining above the signal line (red). The MACD histogram is showing a decline in intensity, which indicates that capital is not flowing into altcoins at a high enough rate.
