Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency representatives (DOGE), have requested access to US Treasury Payment Systems, which has reportedly led to a major clash with Treasury senior official David Lebryk.
Lebryk resigned from his post due to this disagreement, according to an article published by The Washington Post Friday.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the disagreement centered on the Treasury’s highly sensitive payment system. This system processes more than $6 trillion in annual payments, including Social Security, Medicare, federal salaries and government contracts.
It is unclear why DOGE wants to access this system.
When contacted, a DOGE spokesperson refused to make any comments. Representatives from the US Treasury Department did not reply to further inquiries.
Lebryk is expected to depart soon, but the report did not give a specific date.
Scott Bessent, Treasury Secretary for President Donald Trump was confirmed on Monday by the US Senate.
The report below may change as new developments unfold.
