Unknown numbers of Wells Fargo customers are affected by a data breach.
New filings with the Office of the Vermont attorney general show that the lender has warned customers about an insider who has used their personal information for fraud.
A copy of the letter that was sent to its customers in July confirms this. The bank did not issue a statement.
Last month, the bank started sending notices.
The personal information that was accessed from May 2022 to March 2023 could have included: your name, home address, birth date, telephone number, email, Social Security number, drivers’ license number, credit/debit cards number(s), broker account numbers, and/or loans/line credit number(s )…
“We are monitoring your accounts for any suspicious activity or change and will continue to review our security procedures to minimize the possibility of it happening again.”
In April, Wells Fargo’s customers were affected by a similar security breach.
Wells Fargo informed its customers at the time that a former employee had obtained sensitive information about customers, including mortgage account numbers and personal data. The data was sent to the ex-employee’s personal account.
At least one firm of lawyers began investigating the April data breach with a potential class-action lawsuit in mind.
