SpotOnChain, a blockchain analytics firm, has detected another significant transfer of funds related to the WazirX hack. In the last 24 hour, the hackers have transferred a total 10,000 ETH or approximately $23.3 million. This transaction included a transfer of 5,000 ETH to Tornado Cash – a privacy-focused cryptocurrency mixer – and another 5,000 sent to a different address, probably for further laundering.
Hackers’ Portfolios and Laundering Activities
In the last eight days, hackers have laundered 12,600 ETH or approximately $30,13 million. They currently hold 49.100 ETH worth $115 million. Other tokens include CELR, OOKI FRONT and LOOM. This brings the overall portfolio balance up to $118.34million.
Cybercriminals are increasingly using Tornado Cash to hide their cryptocurrency transactions. SpotOnChain data shows that four hackers including those responsible for the WazirX hack have deposited 20,561 Ethereum ($49.3million) into Tornado Cash. The Penpie hackers were especially quick, laundering 11,261 ($26.7m) ETH within four days after their theft. The WazirX hackers, on the other hand, still have a considerable 54,155 Ethereum ($123 million), which represents nearly 88% of stolen funds.

Ethereum Price Drops and Tornado Cash Deposits
During this time, the price of Ethereum dropped to $2,169. This is a drop of over 13%. The analysis of Tornado Cash transactions between September 1 and 8 gives a glimpse at the hacker’s activities. The Penpie hackers have deposited 11,261 Ethereum and currently do not hold any ETH. WazirX exploiters have deposited 7,600ETH and still have 54,155ETH. The Bo Shen hackers have deposited 1,500ETH and still hold 183ETH. The LiFi exploiter, who deposited 200 ETH, currently holds 1,705 Ethereum.

These hackers have collectively deposited 20,561 Ethereum (approximately $49,28 million) in Tornado Cash. They still have 56,043 ETH worth $127.62 millions.
