Venture capitalists are reportedly putting tens and millions of dollars in a decentralized artificial-intelligence (AI) project based on Solana.
Fortune reports that venture capital firm Paradigm has invested close to $50m into AI startup Nous Research. The firm specializes in AI research and human-centric models of language.
According to Fortune magazine, Nous Research will use artificial intelligence (AI) to train their open-source languages models in order to compete with other top AI companies, including OpenAI and DeepSeek.
The firm has a different approach than the conventional one. It wants to use spare computing power from all over the world to train AI-models, instead of training their models at a centralized data center.
Karan Malhotra, co-founder of Nous Research, told Fortune he had created, with the help of a member of OpenAI’s founding team and a retired OpenAI employee, a training method for AI models.
According to Malhotra, Fortune
It’s important that we don’t get bogged down in the old-fashioned view of cryptography, as this is a serious academic and research laboratory. It’s the only way we could make a huge training run, and a democratic event possible.”
The AI-training product is not yet live, even though Nous chose to use the platform for smart contracts. It is not yet decided whether rewards will be given out in SOL.
