One US bank has warned customers about a possible security breach that could have compromised Mastercard accounts and financial information.
Eagle Bank, located in Maryland, has been notified by Mastercard that an unnamed US retailer allowed access to account data between August 15, 2023 and May 25, 2024.
In a report filed with the Massachusetts government, the bank disclosed the security breach.
MasterCard has informed us of an incident involving a breach in security at a network of United States merchants. The records may include your MasterCard Debit Card data.
An intrusion may have compromised Mastercard accounts and details, allowing them to fall into the hands of unauthorised individuals.
“The event did not compromise the security at Eagle Bank, nor had it any impact on your records at Eagle Bank.”
Eagle Bank encourages customers to pay close attention to monthly statements of their checking accounts over the next 12-to-24 months in order to check for any unauthorized transactions.
Banks are also issuing debit cards to replace the old ones.
Eagle Bank’s total assets will reach $615 million by the year 2023.
