Retail investors purchased billions in equity funds during the past week as market volatility was a result of fears about DeepSeek, a Chinese AI application.
The data from Emerging Portfolio Fund Research, Haver Analytics, and Deutsche Bank show that traders have poured $6.55 billion into US Technology Sector Funds in only seven days.

Bullish sentiment has reached such a high level that 54% of all financial assets have been allocated to US stock. It is almost DOUBLE the levels of 2008, while debt investment has fallen to an all-time low. The equity allocation has officially surpassed the Dot-Com Bubble peak of 2001 .”

Kobeissi believes that the current market flow is an indication of more volatility to come.
Positioning has reached extremes, as we enter another trade conflict. S&P500 revenue currently comes from 41% outside the US. It is the highest level since 2013, and marks a significant increase over the 2018-2019 trade war levels.
The majority of purchases has concentrated on technology-related stocks. Computer and electronics account for 30% of US imports to China. US chip exports are in the spotlight, as well as those to China and Singapore. The market is HIGHLY tradeable .”
