According to a recent report, the messaging app that was used by members of Trump’s administration and US government officials has been compromised.
404 Media reported that a hacker had stolen customer data from TeleMessage. This Israeli software firm provides customized versions of popular messaging apps such as Signal.
According to reports, the US government uses modified applications to archive messages.
In a Reuters picture taken last week, Michael Waltz, who was recently fired as national security advisor, used TeleMessage during a cabinet meeting of the Trump administration to contact his colleagues.
Trump announced last week, on Truth Social, that Waltz will be nominated to become the US Ambassador to the United Nations. Former national security advisor Waltz was in hot water this past year after accidentally including a reporter into a Signal conversation between Trump Administration figures about war planning.
The hacker’s identity is unknown. However, 404 Media has viewed all the material provided anonymously. Anonymously, the hacker stated that it took only 15-20 minutes to hack and was “not much work at all.”
Hacker did not access Waltz messages, but he had access to data regarding Customs and Border Protection, Coinbase and other financial institutions. The screenshot below shows the hacker’s access to a TeleMessage Panel that contains the phone numbers, email addresses and names of CPB staff.
This screenshot shows that there is also an option for selecting 747 entries. It suggests that the attacker may have access to data from hundreds of US Government employees.
