According to reports, a cybersecurity incident exposed personal information including financial records and medical histories of more than half a millon Americans.
Security Week reports that Numotion, a provider of mobility and assistive products, has confirmed that 494,000 clients are affected by the data breach between November 18th 2024 and September 2nd 2024.
Numotion claims that an unidentified entity accessed the emails of its employees’ without authorisation.
After an in-depth review, the firm claims that it has determined that emails containing sensitive information about customers are involved.
Numotion will send letters to all affected customers in order to bring light to the breach. It also offers identity theft protection for those whose Social Security number was stolen.
Numotion says it is unaware of any incidents where sensitive customer data was misused to commit fraud or theft. Numotion warns that customers who are affected should remain vigilant and alert to any suspicious activity such as identity theft, financial fraud, or healthcare fraud.
Numotion is a company that specializes in providing wheelchairs and other assistive devices, such as seating, positioning and seating gear, and home accessibility, to people who have disabilities.
