A Florida credit union is warning members that a third-party vendor breach may have exposed their Social Security numbers and financial account details.
Fairwinds Credit Union says the cybersecurity incident was limited to systems at external vendor Mercadien and did not involve a compromise of its own networks.
A Massachusetts Attorney General filing shows 271 people in that state are impacted.
Mercadien identified unauthorized access between September 7th of 2025 and November 7th of 2025 and notified Fairwinds on August 13th of 2026.
Fairwinds finished an internal review on September 4th of 2026 then prepared member notices.
Data that may have been involved includes Social Security numbers, financial account information and driver’s license numbers.
The credit union hired Mercadien, an accounting firm, for an independent quality-control and regulatory review.
It has ended that relationship and says it is not aware of any resulting fraud or identity theft.
As a precaution Fairwinds is offering 24 months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring, identity restoration and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
Fairwinds Credit Union is headquartered in Orlando, Florida.
